04 Yamaha ignition failure

I have an 04 Yamaha 4 stroke T8 that developed a miss during use. By the time I got back to the dock it quit completely. At home I checked and cleaned the fuel system. Plugs appeared wet so tested them against the head. Plugs would fire for from 1 to about 3 seconds and then go dead. The longer between attempts, the longer the fireing time. Immediate attempts would result in just a couple of sparks. Disconnected the yellow wire as indicated and no change. Does anyone have any ideas?

you may have short; trace and inspect wire from the stop switch lanyard back to the CDI, disconnect this wire at the connector near the CDI assembly, do your spark test.

Great job. Trouble was intermittant short in kill switch. Now I can fish again.
