04 Yamaha 50hp 2stroke, Tilt and trim not working.

Went to check to see if I needed oil before my trip and engine did not want to tilt back up. I released the hydraulics and lifted manually. I added oil to the hydraulics. Started working better. Made it 100 yards off the ramp and would trim and tilt only here and there not working at times. Pulled her out and now will not work at all. I just get a clicking noise at the relay. I took the blue and green wires off and (from what I have read) connected them to a 12v battery. It was supposed to have the motor run, but it just sparked at the battery terminals. Is it the motor (t&t) that has gone bad? Or am I doing something wrong?

If these are the wires that go to the motor , then either the motor is bad or the wires are shorted out
