04 Volvo SX won't go into reverse!

Last year I had similar problem where the drive would not go into forward, after many adjustments, and a new cable nothing seemed to work. I had my dealer take the drive apart and the cone looked perfect, could not find any problem, ended up changing the cone under warranty, and it worked fine for about 30 Hrs. Now the same thing is happening only in reverse this time. I have checked the adjustment and everything is lined perfect, sometimes it will pop right in, then another time it will sit there for a couple minutes, then it goes in. I am getting full travel of the lever on the outside of the drive. I believe this to be an internal problem maybe some shims out of tolerance? I'm not sure, neither is my dealer. It's out of warranty now so I can't afford to pay him for hrs. guessing. Has anyone had this problem? From what I hear, they don't ever break and no one has heard of this before. Even my dealer has never had to fix an SX before. Any ideas? ready to sink her!

Do you have a copy of all the work done by your dealer? Including the drive repair? If it was done under warranty and it keeps coming back, Volvo wil probably cover it, even though you are out of warranty. Call Volvo customer service, or have your dealer call them. Trust me, they will probably still fix it for you if all your documentation is there. Plus, they also have a record if your dealer turned it in.

double check the drive oil level, if its to high those symtoms can sometimes occur but usually its going into fwd .
also get the part number of the cone and shoe assy, it got changed sometime ago and requires different parts and shift shoe adjustments, I am still waiting on volv to send me the actual bulliten, last time I had to call a dealer friend in camden NC.
was the upper driveshaft and bearings carefully inspected>
I usually replace the bearings anytime its apart as any play in them will allow the cone not to seat in the cup.

I bought this boat new and it is trailered daily to the water, not kept in the lake, and in winter it is garaged. It only has about 150 hrs. total, I cant believe any bearings would be worn, they would have to be out of tolerance from the factory. Also whats troubles me is that sometimes it will go right into gear like normal and then the next three times it wont go in at all.
