04 Merc 5.0 MPI Fuel pump stopped buzzing? No start!

I have an 04 Tahoe q7 that I haven't had a lick of problems with, parked it on my shorestation last night went to start today and when I cycle the key the fuel pump doesn't come on. The boat won't start! Cranks and cranks....not getting any fuel! There are 2 pumps on the boat, on on each side, if the priming pump went out will the second not cycle either? Have a party this weekend and no one can look at it till Tuesday......it seems to me that there might be a relay or fuse blown, where would the be.....HELP please! surfinrt66 at the aol thing

Are you 100% sure the kill switch At the helm is up or pluged in, Normaly mounted to shifter handle. There is too relays on the engine for the fuel pump and the other is for the IGN system. You could try switching them for a quick test too see if any thing changes. Also I have seen relays get stuck and if you tap on them it might get you out of a jam. Also mounted on the engine is a braker with a red 50 amp braker you could try pushing in. Then also you will want to find the main wire harness coming from the back of the boat going to the engine with a big black rubber plug at the end some times with a hose clamp holding it on, make sure that is pluged in right and try wiggling it around with the key on to see if the pump takes off. Check and wiggle all the wires and fueses under the dash and at the key with the key left on to see if it starts working. Do you have power at the dash? Does the rpm gauge move up to around 400 rpm while cranking? The best thing to do is touch every wire at the dash and at the engine area with the key on to see if the pump will start up on it's own. Also make sure it is not in gear at all, By wiggling the throttle. Are the batterie cables tight and clean at both ends of them? Good luck I hope one of these works out for you.

Thanks, I actually for the fuel pump and relay box and tapped it with a screwdriver handle as my friend tried to start the boat after a few taps and a few key turns the pump turned on! It lasted 4 starts and then I had to tap again.....sounds like a relay....what a pain in the a#! to get to the box!!!! I was told the pump "either works or it doesn't" so you are right it is probably a relay or a connection. Thanks....P.S. I took it to the "hospital" he is gonna let me know what it is here in the next half hour.....I'll post

I too had this problem and just tried the hammering. Worked like a charm and now starts. Should I go ahead a replace the sensor?
