1996 23' Parker WA w/04' Honda BF225 80hrs on engine.

The boat has the right prop on it. Nothing was stuck on the outdrive.

Today the engine was running fine, noticed the floscan was going from 6gph to 1gph at the same RPM. Then the engine almost cut out from 4200 rpm down to 1000rpm. Then it wouldn't go back in to RPM's. Stuck at 2000 rpm's we made our way back in to port. 6hrs later...
We checked the bulb. It was not collapsed but blown up hard as a rock. Then checked the fuel/water separater and found it was 1/2 empty. When taking the filter off it let out pressure. Not sure if it was going in or out. Seems like it was out due to the bulb... Checked all fuel line fittings and retightend all fittings. Still didn't get past 2000rpm's. Rerouted the fuel line around the filter directly to the engine. Still no go.

Tried pumping the bulb to see if the fuel pump was bad. No change in RPM's. Still seems that the engine is starved of fuel???

Whatcha think?

Give us a little more .How long has that engine been on there and have we added anything to the fuel delivery system, like a kicker t'd off the main?Try running off of someones portable tank .This will be a challenge as there is no quick connect but the splice is in that general area. Also remember there are 2 addtional fuel filters under your cowl and if you have gotten some ecceptionally crappy fuel ,they could all be plugged up.Do you have an electric fuel primer? What did you repower from and why?

Miss Kellie

Did you ever resolve the problem?

I am having a problem with one of my BF200s (160 hours) Starboard engine started to cut out at higher RPMs. First anything over 4,500 then 3,500 - now 2,500.

Dealer thought it was going into RPM reduction mode due to a faulty sensor - either water temp or oil presure. When they pulled the boat and started working on the engine to replace the sensors they found that the last fuel filter (the engine has 3)was clogged up.

Question now is, how did anything get past the water separator filters and the two other fuel filters ahead of the clogged one which is burried deep down in the engine? They looked at the other engine, which was running ok, and also saw a rather clogged up filter. Everyone is perplexed.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

That first filter is a great idea, but keep in mind that thing is made to work for all o.bs 40 horsepower and up .Even though this thing is nice on fuel ,it certainly is sipping more than that 40 and with a little contamination will either overfill with water or can bubble the crap over the top.The next bowl in the engine is only a sensor/bowl,no filter, but a nice feature. Then we have the next filter that plugs easily with the idea of protecting you from yourself.I do'nt understand the confusion. You need to do something about your fuel tank.
