I've been reading this site for a few weeks now and would like to get some opinions and experiences.
We have been looking and reading about other boats and we are about a hair away from buying this boat and it would be our first boat purchase, but our families have had boats for years. (fishing and waterskiing) This boat isn't cheap as well-26k including the trailer-tandem axle, surge brakes, roll on type. It's a bowrider and seats 9 so it's big enough for us and we would use it in both freshwater and salt. also, is this the proper size to go in the bay around Boston,Cape Cod and surrounding islands?
Your opinions would be greatful.
Thanks, Denise

I do like Montereys. But IMHO a 19 is too small for choppy water, regardless of brand. For bays I would rather have a little bigger boat, even if this meant a lesser brand. See what the prices are like on a Bayliner 205, Rinker 212, or Tahoe Q7. Of course the Monterey 218 would be really nice! Here is another thread with Monterey 190 owner - Trailer Boats Boards » ... » Opinions on Monterey 190LS

Kelly Cook

For a first boat that is a nice size. Especially if you are going to trailer it. Look at how many Boston Whalers, Makos, & Bayliners you see out in the chop in that size range. A bigger boat will usually always handle better in rough water, But not everyone can afford a 27 footer! The difference between a 19-20-21 ft boat really isn't all that much anyway. I would take a 19ft Monterey over a 20ft B-liner any day of the week!! Now if you were looking at 16-17 ft. boat that would be different because of the light weight. You didn't mention what size mercruiser engine?? Good Luck Denise and enjoy!!

Thank you for the input. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info about Monterey, but what I've seen is pretty good.
Thanks again, Denise
