Replacing the shift rod lever in a '68 Johnson 6hp I picked up a few weeks ago. Anybody know the size (e.g. 8x32) this screw is? Or is it a proprietary screw?

If you tell me where it's located I would be willing to check on my 68 Evinrude 6HP. Perhaps a picture? Best of luck. Rick.

You talking about the one that holds the inner shift lever to the shifter shaft? I don't have one handy to double check, but I THINK it is 10-32. One thing for sure, it is a hex head and uses a tab washer to keep it from loosening. Stainless steel, of course. I'd say you won't find one at the corner store.

EDIT: Yep, just checked that is part number 303714 as you stated. Tab washer is 303715

It's the screw that connects the shift rod lever to the shift handle.

I happened to find one in my salvage parts bucket. Thanks for the replys!
