Friend of mine bought a 2003 crownline 270br 350 mag bravo 3 duo prop and keeps it out at my house since he doesn't have room at his and I told him he really needs to do some maintance this year to it he bought it at the end of the season of 09. I rode in it a couple times last year and drove it a couple times. I always noticed his temp always seemed warm to me it gets to like 180-190 and I now mine does not get this hot. Also when you turn all the way to the right and go to turn back it will get stuck and you have to turn harder then it will work fine only does it sometimes. What is the correct temp, I told him he should replace the impeller pump and how often should the bellows be replaced. Any ideas what people have seen that casue the steering to do this sometimes.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Only if the boats cooling system is a closed cooling system is 180-185 normal. Anytime it's up to 190, it's too hot. The impeller should be changed every other year on those pumps, and if it original and the engine is raw water cooled, no wonder it's running that hot.
Should be in the 170 to 175 range if raw water cooled.
Bellow should be replaced every 5 years, but the drive should be pulled and the alignment checked and the bellows checked for water at least yearly (During winterization is the normal time).

There is a problem with the power steering that causes them to stick. I will check some bulletins, that problem sounds familiar.

I figured we are going to put a new impeller pump on this year and pull the outdrive to check bellows, grease u joints, and check alignment. Just let me now if you find something about the steering is that a warranty thing they are taking care of.

Don
did you ever see anything that makes the steering do this.
