2003 Optimax 225, Saltwater Series
Engine ran great first 6 years. The compressor went out and I had it replaced. Since then I have spent over $6k trying to get it to run right. The engine kills while idling but runs great after you get over 2k rpms. Doesn't mater if it is cold or after running for an hour it acts the same. Sometimes it will kill 8 to 10 times after launching while trying to idle to the pier. I have almost taken out piers several times when it kills and I ram the pier. It is not fun idling around other boats trying to launch or load up, never know when it will kill. Occasionally it will launch and not kill, maybe once every 25 trips. It has been worked on in three different shops and the outcome is always the same. The last shop had supposedly the best mechanic in south La, yeah right. $2500 later had same results. I got tired out dumping money into it with no results so now I just live with it.
Any ideas? Could it be something simple that is getting over looked?
