Into the 9th hour of break in. 1 minute WOT at 5500 rpm and up/down the rpm scale as per break in schedule. Then, as I was idling (800 rpm) in neutral for about 2 minutes the engine stall. Got the engine to start after 2 tries (tried to start right away and 3 minutes later) Heading home at 4000 rpm then I slowed to 3000 rpm - it stalled. Waited 2 minutes and started ok. Got to launch area and idled and wait. Motor runs fine. Could it be just water in fuel or any idea? I will be installing a water separator asap. I wlll let the dealer know.

19P propeller for now provided by dealer. Will try another after break in. Dealer willing to provide before I decide which one. What would you suggest?

Thank you all.

20' Crestliner Sportfish

Re: '03 150 vmax help

alexc I am not sure if the v max is a two stroke but if it is I would lean more to the spark plus becomming fouled ,and also would check and clean the onboard fuel filter.I my self have 15 hours on my yamaha 90 hp 2003 and did notice during break in first 10 hours that my rpm's would vary some what but the engine would never stall installing a water separator is a great idea and I do have one before the primer bulb. Now after the 10 break in is over I am also using yamaha ring free as a additive to my gas.As far as your prop what is manufacture range on WOT it seems you are close to operating range on my yam manufatures WOT is 4500 to 5500 rpm's on my 90 yam WOT is 5000 the prop I am using is a 13 1/4 x17k I just purchase a 13 1/2x15 michigan match prop that should bring my RPM up to 5500 the rule of thumb the lower the pitch the increase in rpm's so if you wanted to increase the rpm you would have to drop your pitch to 18 every inch drop will increse you rpm about 200 :) :) :)

Thanks Lonewolf. The motor is a 2 stroke ox66. You mentioned "ring free additive." Any other name it goes by in Ontario. I also use a 2000 honda 9.9 as trolling motor in Lake Ontario and will be using the same tank in the boat (via water/fuel separator) How will ring free affect the honda. Average troll with honda is 2 to 3 hrs.

I am a new member and this great site is very helpful/informative to me. Thanks you all!!!
