Have an 02 gtx that is getting water inside Jill while at the lake. Plugs are in. Had to replace rubber boot that goes around drive shaft and also replaced the carbon seal while there. No known leaks in exhaust. No known holes in hull. Can anyone please give some info?

Thanks

double check you got no leaks, by hooking water hose to the rear of pump. You'll see a "snorkel" looking tube, protruding from back.

Also, inspect inside the pump assy. You SHOULD see 2-little white plastic tubes protruding from atop the pump. If 1 or both are missing, then your bailers are working in reverse order. The water traveling past the tubes, creates a vacuum, thus, relieving hull of any water. If 1 or both are missing, well then, its filling the hull...

how much water are we talking about? Some is normal unless you ride like grandma, bailers should take care of it. On that comment, I always run mine out for a couple of hundred yards and back just to give bailers a chance to clear it out before I park it between rides.
One time my bailers let me down I removed them and washed them out and put them back and they were fine, just got clogged a bit.

A third of the capacity of hull after 3 to 5 minute ride almost all wide open. Enough to get ingested into carbs while idling. Checked siphon lines, they seem to be intact and ok. Put on hose, no leaks. Must be coming in around impeller shaft or pump.

Check for leaks while in shallow water with seat off, hose wont do it. Check up above in the rear of the hull, there are water pipes there that will leak. Water circulation is driven by jet pump, faster you go the faster it leaks. Look for split hoses, badly fitted or connected, (especially if motor has been taken out and refitted), Tuned pipe connections can and will corrode over time and will not show up very well at idle. Could be something as simple as the telltale, (pea water) pipe has come loose. Some leaks will not show up until under pressure which is why the hose will not do it.

i didnt mention carbon ring assy, because OP said he replaced it.

OP, you must have not put the snap ring or oring back on the driveshaft that goes UNDER the steel coolar, that the carbon ring rides against, for you to see, that much water.

Gentlemen, thanks for all the help. Found out that the drive shaft from motor to pump was bent. Not sure how a 3/4" steel shaft gets bent, but sure enough, it wobbles when it rolls on a flat surface(and you can see a slight bend in it). Thanks again for all the comments.

a rock sucked through the jetpump, will bend a shaft. Great you found the problem. Doublecheck your motor mounts by pulling up on the motor. Should not be able to move it.
