Hey guys, i picked up the motor over the winter and went through all the typical stuff by replacing fuel line from motor to tank. New tank. Also replaced control cables.. i ran the motor fine on its first trip out it always fired up with ease. No after taking it out on a good run (1.5hrs) full throttle half throttle cruising and just in gear. It now spits a sputters at idle or low rpm it doesnt shut off or die out but it sure runs rough. Fresh gas (91octane) from day one.. any ideas? Thanks

Check compression first and then carbs for plugged jet orifices.

Not really enough info for a power pack.

What were compression #'s? Perform open air gap spark check set to 7/16".

You cleaned carbs but idle and off idle circuits are also done with the throttle bodies, did you clean these? Change spark plugs and retest. Also clean and tighten all grounds. Start at battery and check all engine grounds as well.

That assumes 60* looper, not 4 stroke.

Check carb bowls for leaks, if tightened improperly or too much heat they warp.

You didnt mess with timing linkage, correct? May want to verify.

Some of the new tanks dont vent well, might try running with cap loose.

Vapor separator lid can also warp and leak if it has one.

Not many '02 models out there in my area, what's the model #?

So the compression was 120 on 3 cylinders and 117 on the 4th lower left cylinder. Yes it is a 2 stroke. New plugs would the gaps be off on a new set?

I am not familiar with the off and on idle circuits?

I did not mess with any of the timing linkage.

The tank vents as it should..

I did notice the bulb does not stay firm while after running a bit it is not collapsed but it isnt firm either. Pumping it back to firm doesn't have an affect on the rough idle..

The bulb will NOT be firm once motor is running.----And that is very normal too.

Like I suspected, '03...changes nothing...

try some carb spray through the idle air orifice of throttle bodies. Verify bowls and vst lid not warped first.
