I just picked up a 2001 1100 kawi ski DI. Only 50 hours. Guy said was winterized but I think that it was just sitting for a while. Changed plugs, drained most of the gas and refilled with fresh 93 and fuel injector cleaner. Starts sounds good under throttle but has a hard time idiling. It seems to get a lil better just running in driveway and have not yet gotten it out on water. Im thinking that maybe one or more of the fuel injectors may be varnised and or still some bad gas but have no experience with theses motors. Planning on taking it out and running it for a while to see if it cleans itself out but dont want to do any damage. If I let idle sometimes it will idle low stall and check engine light will come on (maybe running lean at idle?). I turn on and off and engine light goes off and starts right back up. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

could be plugs and stale fuel,, or a dirty ground conection to the engine block, it probably needs to be run and you may need to up the idle a tad to begin with. remember it will idle faster out of the water, so if it is stalling on the trailer it will do it worse in the water

I would make sure to run it hard at the lake and go through a tank of gas at least before you star messing with anything. It could just need to have "the cobwebs blown out" so to speak. I also wouldn't mess with idle speed settings until then either. The Kawasaki 1100 (I have one too a 98 model, non-DI) engine is a screamer and doesn't like cold starts that much, but once it's warm it has no issues with idleing, starting, or getting out of the hole.

Granted mine is carbureted, but other than injectors they are the same. If it doesn't clear up after a tank or two of gas and plenty of WOT runs, then look at having the fuel injectors replaced. I hope you have a hose atttached for cooling water when you're running it for long periods out of the water. (I will run mine for 20-30 seconds out of water, but that's aboout it)

2001 dang, i wouldnt be surprised if that doesnt have a code reader. When it comes to jetskis i have found on these forums everyone keeps pointing to ripping the carbs or fi's off. My last problem I had I replaced the whole fuel system to find out it was a temperature sensor. That ski may have several. Just an FYI.
