Trying to choose between a Monterey M-22, a Chaparral 221 SI and a Regal 2000 ES. Any comments from current owners, or other similar boats?

Please dont start multiple topics across multiple forums about basically the same subject

The dups have been deleted and this topic re-titled and left in the Boat Topics sub-forum

The individual brand forums you posted to dont get nearly the boat traffic as this sub-forum does.

Are all 3 boats brand new?

I wondered about that, but wanted to target each specific brand. So, sorry for the cross posts. Yes, I am looking at all brand new boats. I will find the post in the new forum.

This IS the new topic, moved and re-titled this topic from 1 of the 3....

Congrats on a pending new boat

:welcome: to iBoats . . .

I enjoy choosing boats for people :D

Of course I don't own one of these or anything close . . . :)

Which do you like the best? and Why?

Good questions.

I chose these three because I thought they were higher quality comparable boats. Not a Chris Craft, but not a bayliner. Frankly, I would be happy with any of these, my main concerns are around reliabilty, customer service and honoring the warranty. Also considering Crownline, but haven't gotten a quote.

In order of cost, I was surprised to discover the Chaparral was the least expensive. Unfortunately, they also have the longest potential wait time.

Monterey is next and I really love the look of the boat with the black cowl frame and their arctic blue hull color. Don't really care for the open cooler compartment, just doesn't have a nice look to it.

Regal is the most expensive and is much nicer looking in person than on it's website.

They're all within a few thousand dollars, so it's largely boiling down to which company is best at standing behind their boats.

I know that Chaparral has a dedicated owners forum site., other than the owner's section here on iBoats. So, you could surf over there and see what folks say about warranty coverage and honoring. Regal and Monty also have forum sites.

Warranty coverage is tough . . . lots of horror stories, so you are better off with not needing to use the warranty.

The boat market was pretty much tapped out this Spring because of the pandemic - lots of folks gravitated towards boating as a social distancing activity and inventories were sold out in a lot of places.

What are the dealers telling you in terms of lead times?

if you get the Chaparral, get one with the infinity power swim step......

Chaparral is back-logged. same plant putting out both Chap and Robalo

they are awaiting motors/drives/towers/etc. and working overtime to keep up with demand. their fiberglass shop is running 24-7

Chris Craft is now owned by Winnebago and has had a lot of turn-over in the ranks in recent months.

After all my hand wringing, I found a used 2017 Chaparral H2O that I couldn't pass up at the price (and still under warranty). Thanks for the input.
