When I trim my engine down from full tilt up it begins to creak very loud as soon as it gets to the rams (is rams the right word?. The two silver poles rounded at the end) It gives me the impression that something needs to be greased. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The ends of the tilt rams actually push against 2 stainless steel plates that can be greased. Your "creaking" may actually be caused by some air bubbles in the tilt/trim hydraulic system than can be purged by opening that fill plug to allow air to escape. My tilt/trip sometimes makes a similar "creaking" sound, but so far I've just ignored it, since the system is working fine otherwise, and I'd rather not open up a sealed hydraulic system. Good Luck!:)

Robert is correct about the grease, I have had this problem....I greased the trim cylinder ends and it will quited. But once it is washed off.. it will need it again.
