I have all the bolts out holding the lower unit on. I think the shift rod is keeping it from coming down all the way and off. How do I disconnect the shift rod?

When I took the lower unit out today I noticed that there wasn't an O-ring at the top end of the drive shaft where it engages the lower part of the engine. Where can I get this O-ring from? Is it part of the lower unit gasket set? Any help is appreciated.

Well I finally got the engine running and besides not wanting to idle it runs fairly well. Only run for a couple minutes at a time on a test stand in a barrel of water (40 gal drum)
