The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Got the new transom seal kit, water pump, shift cable and shift shaft bushings installed. I have reverse finally! Couldn't have done it without the help from the good folks on this forum. Thanks!
I just can't get it seated on the flange. It gets close, but won't seat all the way. I don't want to put the adhesive on till I'm sure it will seat. Does the adhesive act as a lubricant?
Before you say you should have bought genuine, price really mattered. that said, it's not marked up or forward. I know the ground clips go down, but which end does the flats by the clamp go? Feel free to lash me now.
Got the lower unit off no problem. The upper is loose but stuck at about an inch gap. Is it safe to pry? Doing a bellows replacement. I don't think the water intrusion was long term.
No trim. I can jump the hot and up and down circuit and the pump runs. I think the problem is between the switch. no bad fuse in the loop. any suggestions on how to diagnose.
I've called everywhere for a kit, and no one has one. I can buy in pieces, but that seems a big hassle. anyone know the merc number for the kit and where I can find one? '84 mcm 120.
When my motor is at idle, and I hit the trim switch up or down, it seems to really pull the motor down and run very rough. I suspect a bad ground, but I haven't found it yet. Anyone else ever had this problem?
I went to put the plugs back in my manifold and riser to run the motor today. They where very rusty around the holes and I had to chase the threads to get the plugs to start. Would this indicate a larger problem with the manifold and riser itself? I was going to wait till next year to pull...
I'm needing to replace the input yoke as I have oil in my bellows. I was planning on buying the yoke, the large O-ring, new seal, and of course, the tool to remove the big nut. Anything else I should need?
Ok, I've installed a new mando alt on my mcm120. I'm only getting 12.5V to the battery. Voltage ground to red wire is 12v. When running, the voltage at the orange wire jumps off the gage. This should be 13.5-14.5 give or take? the orange wire connects to a junction block on the starter...
Looks like my alternator has gone kaput. Is it worth trying to rebuild? I would guess its either the voltage regulator or the diode. It sat for a LONG time and possibly got wet along the way.
