    1996 48hp johnson extreamly high rpm

    I have a 1996 johnson 48hp that when stared will scream at a very high rpm moving the throttle won't do anything when I go to shut the engine off tutning the key or pulling the saftey off won't shut off the motor I have to disconnect the gasline and let it run out of fuel. Any suggestions?

    48 johnson problem

    i have 1996 48 hp johnson that when you start it it runs very fast high rpm and you can't get it to slow down when you turn the key off it still runs fast when i pull the emergency stop switch it still runs I have to disconnect the gas line and let it run out of fuel to get the motor to stop...
