The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Ive been brainstorming ideas and I’m wondering if my impeller were bad if this could cause the voltage regulator to burn up? I know that it is water cooled and if it wasn't pumping enough water to get to the regulator maybe that could be the cause to burning up 2 in such a short time.
So I got ahold of the new sensor this evening. Made sure everything was good and cleaned up and put it on. Started the motor on the muffs and it ran fantastic. I had absolutely no issues like before. I then decided to run to the river to fish a little before dark. I probably ran the boat...
It’s not like a slow die off. It just shuts immediately off, there isn’t really a way for me to know when to pump the primer unless ai just did it the entire time. Just got off the phone with a dealer near me and they actually have the sensor in stock. I think I am going to go get it and go...
The problem is I have to spray contact cleaner on the sensor for it to even run. I took the sensor off and sprayed it and tried to clean it up, when you do this in just a few minutes its fogs back up with the residue thats still hanging around from the fire extinguisher. I believe that is...
I've got it cleaned up pretty good now. That's kind of what I though could be going on by the looks of it when I pulled it. I could get the sensor out again and post a picture and see what you think. I hate to just buy parts without knowing for sure what's going on.
About 3 months ago I got a '94 Stratos with a Johnson 150 and the engine was running perfect. A few weeks ago however I went on a fishing trip and the motor had some issues. I was idling along when an alarm sounded. My first thought was to make sure it was still peeing (which it was) then I...
Same fuel tank but after I drove down the road I did notice that where the hose connects to the fuel tank has a leak. While running at the house that was not like that. Going to try a different hose when I get one.
I finally got the new parts in and installed. After everything was put back together I put the motor in a trashcan at the house and started it. It started on the 5th or 6th pull. All seemed well as it was idling nicely after I adjusted the lean rich knob. After I was satisfied with how it...
I torqued the motor to 45 ft/lb as that is what I found in the manual. But it was cracked before I had ever put it back on. I can say with certainty that I didn’t try to start it with an impact but it could have happened before I bought it.
I just am not sure of what that part does honestly other than open and close the points. This is the first engine of any kind that I have worked on so it has been a learning process.
I think I am going to be able to get one locally. I don’t know anything about the previous owner so I cant say for certain what was done before. I just wonder how big of a deal those parts make and if they are causing me the issues I am having.
In your opinion is that something that could have to do with it not running correctly? I found the cam magneto and currently searching for the flywheel.
I dont have a picture of it right now but will get one posted on here tomorrow. The cam magneto along with the flywheel is what is cracked. It started and just seemed to die out as if the spark gave out, that is the best I know how to explain it. I will double check those again tomorrow but I...
Trying to avoid that since they want $125 an hour just to look at it. Between being laid off and just wanting to learn how to work on things myself I would prefer to keep troubleshooting myself.
So after today I feel like I havent gotten anywhere. I already had the reed valves off so I checked the vacuum on them, all was good. Put the carb back on, same with it. Tried and tried to start it with no luck at all. I pulled the flywheel to check points again and realized that the...
