The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Does anybody have any pictures of the box around the engine on your I/O? I’ve been digging around through the build threads and I’m not finding anything helpful. I appear to have most of the framework for that area, but still puzzling it out.
I forgot my sander at the shop, so we couldn’t sand and epoxy the deck today. Em and I did finish riveting it though. I put 3 in the field down the runners, as opposed to the factory sheeting that had nothing in the middle. Nice and solid. We played around with the tanks and what is left of the...
My father in law said I should check with a particular cabinet builder here in town who happens to be an old friend’s dad. Sure enough, he said he’s got several pieces of mahogany laying around big enough to frame up the bow. I figured I could use oak or any hardwood really, but the mahogany...
Interesting thing happened today. So, I was leaving my shop after work and pondering where I might find boat flooring options locally, and to leave my shop I have to cut through the Carpet One parking lot. I figured it was a long shot but I stopped to see if the guys might have any boat carpet...
Here’s todays progress. We got the floor cut and epoxied yesterday, finally got it mostly riveted today. Still have to finish riveting, then I can sand and epoxy the top side. Slow but steady progress, anyways.
Do you know what the dimensions on the mahogany are? Almost appears to be a 1x8 or so, cut into a curve. Mahogany is all special order stuff here in Colorado, so it would be very helpful to order the right stuff. Thanks for the picture, that fills in all the information I’ve been missing as far...
Thanks for the input, that’s rather what I was assuming. Seemed like a big honkin’ engine and outdrive with a pair of 20 gallon tanks in the back would be a bit much. Kind of a bummer, would have been a great place to stuff them. I’ll have to figure out how to build some sturdy boxes to go over...
Thanks guys, I do believe you’re right. I was puzzling on the round edge on the short side of the panels, and that makes sense if you lay them sideways. Back to the aluminum pile to find their partner brackets for the forward section of the bow.
Today’s question: does anybody know what these buggers are, where they go, and why they have holes in them? They appear to have been riveted on all 4 sides, and one hole has one last remaining plastic bushing in it, about 1 1/4 inch diameter.
I’ll look into replacing that cable, or maybe the whole helm. What I do have is rather rough.
Does anyone have any thoughts on putting those two 22 gallon tanks in the rear beside the engine? It seems a good location, especially considering the newfound very large transom/engine cover. I am...
I’ll have to dig through the pile again. I have a veritable mountain of aluminum brackets, bars, odds and ends, fittings, whatever. Some are obviously out of the boat, with half drilled rivets and such. Perhaps the framework for this sheet is still here.
You’re right. Just finished arguing with the wife about it and she won. Totally goes right there. I was hung up on the rivet holes, but apparently he modified the back of this more than I realized.
For a second I thought I found where the aft vents went, but then realized it doesn’t line up. Found this giant piece of aluminum in the pile with holes for the vents, but no idea where it is supposed to go.
I have 4 of these hoopties that I assume are the vent covers. They align with the holes on either side of the cabin. However, I can’t find anywhere where the stern side vents would go. Also, there is one blower currently attached to this wiring harness. Should there be two? And do the forward...
All right guys, here ya go. Here’s some preliminary pictures of what I’m working with. I can’t figure out how to comment on each picture directly, so you’ll just have to sort through them. There’s the flooring and insulation I tore out. Transom is sunbleached, but very solid. After reading all...
I’ll take some tomorrow. There’s a whole lotta holes in the top of this boat, it’s possible the filler cap doesn’t even go where it is. I’ll take a bunch of pics and put them up here for people to analyze.
