    Hmm, I'd say it looks like SS from China? I have had similiar results on some SS accesories that I bought for my rig after washing it and the parts where made in China. :-(

    Here's the problem. I bought a SS prop 14.5x20 3-blade 15 spline for my alpha drive that the seller said it would fit because in came off of a mercruiser.     Prop

    The prop size and pitch is usually stamped on the hub like 14X19 or 14X19P and so on. Some aftermarket manufacturerers will stamp this on the outside on the prop like on the shaft or one or the propellers. The 500 81u is probably a manufacturer ID#. Hope this helps.
