The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Update:
Stern drive goes up and down 100% of the time now. I am positive my old worn out battery may have contributed to the sporadic issue of not moving up/down properly. Installed new battery and it works great now!
That is exactly what I did today. The pin here in this pic was really sticky and rough and binding on something. Greased the two pins at each trim tab and greased the bushings. Sprayed electric contact cleaner on that trim sender and all appears fixed! Will hopefully test this weekend! Thanks...
So here is a Tuesday night update:
Took the trim limit switch apart by following this video. Super easy.
I noticed that my metal contact was super dingy, oily, kinda sticky etc. Stuck the metal contact in muriatic acid (be very careful around this stuff) and the metal contact cleaned up real...
Saturday update: took the trim rams off (one side only) and noticed the bushings are really cracked and dry. So put some soapy water all over. When I trim up/down on that one there was no noise at all. So I put it back on the drive. Noise eliminated by about 75% so will take the other side off...
Just greased the fittings and maybe helped a little but not much. Next step will be to take off the trim rams….. more update to come! Thanks to all I appreciate your support let me see if I can find that Alpha Gen 2 service manual.
