    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

That boat/motor/prop combo performs very well when it’s running right. I’m glad you got it running like it should. I’ll bet you’re going to keep that 23p prop on it too. :) Take care and enjoy your “new” boat. B

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

Ohaze, This is my 2011 Q5i 4.3 TKS from a dead stop, idling at 650 rpm, trim down. This is with the stock 23P Alum prop. The site doesn’t allow for long videos but you’ll see that it come out of the hole, planes and runs right up to 54. I could squeeze a little more out of it but with one hand...

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

Once it’s tuned up, I think you’ll be happy with the stock aluminum 14x23P. But let me know what you learn while playing with all the props. I want to put a SS prop on mine and keep the alum 23P as a back up. I believe that I need to drop down to a 21P if I go to SS. Good luck!! BC

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

I don’t think it has anything to do with break-in on a 13 year old engine. I also looked up what happens when you spin a hub, and you would get higher rpm and reduced power, so I don’t think it’s the prop hub. You didn't answer my question about your location. Are you at high altitude or was...

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

Ohaze, Do you have any idea how many hours may be on the engine? Have you done any compression testing? Simple to do and may provide some insight into the problem. Just out of curiosity, where are you located?

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

I am puzzled by the performance you are reporting. It sounds like we are running very similar boats, engines and prop set up. I would think that it’ll your prop was spinning on the hub, you would be over-revving. I’m not sure what happens when the hub spins since it’s never happened to me.

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

I have a 2011 Q5i with 4.3L TKS. This is the fish and ski version. I’m running the original 14x23P 3-blade Aluminum Prop and get 4800 at WOT. Speedo says 55 mph and based on other boats I’ve had, 55 feels pretty close to correct. The calcs say I only have 5% slip with this setup. I’m happy with...
