Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

The known good prop I have available is a stainless 4 blade 14.125”x20 pitch. It currently has black max aluminum 3 blade 21 pitch 14.25”. If the stainless prop works would there be any problem keeping it on if it doesn’t trip the rev limiter and stays in WOT range? I didn’t know that you’re...

Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

Replaced coupler put it back together. Took it out for a test run and the first attempt to plane failed. It spun out and overreved. I tried about 7-8 more times and it hooked up each of those times.

Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

Got it back from the shop. Put it in the water and had the exact same problem. I had my mechanic and boat guy buddy look at the prop. It has the flo-torq 2 hub kit. He said that there’s no way that style hub can spin and he thinks it’s the coupler. When the shop tested it they had one maybe...

Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

Got a call from the shop. Inspected the prop. They pulled the drive and inspected it. Inspected the coupler and saw nothing wrong. Put it back together and took it out to the channel **** pounded it planing multiple times. I don’t understand. There was definitely a problem.

Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

5.0L Mercruiser 2006 Alpha gen 2 drive. Recently replaced IAC. Boat had broken bow line at a dock and was blown into the dock repeatedly with the drive hitting the dock. Did the drive get knocked out of alignment? We were able to get home fine after that incident. It was about 30 minutes...

5.0L MPI low rpm at WOT

Took it out last night with the trim tabs taken off. They were on when I bought the boat. The black rubber type that are not adjustable from inside the boat. After letting it warm up some I found that it was doing between 47-52 mph at a Wot of about 4900 rpm. Damn trim tabs…

5.0L MPI low rpm at WOT

I’ve got a 2006 Crownline classic with a 5.0 MPI and an alpha drive. Toward the end of last season we had figured out that the boat was running on 7 cylinders. One cylinder had no compression. We replaced one head and had a valve job done and put it back together. I had expected to be closer...

Lubriplate SPO 255 and Loctite 5900

Thanks guys. It looks like the Loctite 5900 is pretty spendy but does a great job from what I have found. How deflating would it be to put it all back together and have it fail from cheap gasket maker.

Lubriplate SPO 255 and Loctite 5900

As I am getting my ducks in a row to install the heads and intake on a 2006 5.0 MPI I had a couple questions. My first question is about the lubriplate called out on page 3A-26 in the service manual. Is there an alternate or is this the only recommended lube for the pushrods and rocker arm...

I’ll get some pictures of exactly what I’m talking about. Pardon the new guy gaffs while I learn my way around both the boat and the forum.

Fuel Rail assembly 5.0 MPI OW376228

I was wondering if someone could help me get the fuel rails back in place. I had them out of place to get the injectors cleaned. I ended up with 2 extra nuts which isn’t right. One back of injectors is sitting deeper into the intake than the other. I tried piecing it together using the IPB...
