    2021 Tahoe T18 floor storage won’t drain

The bottom of that floor storage is basically in the bilge. My thought is that if the boat is sitting in the water, it might not have enough of an angle to drain out, meaning it fills with water from the bilge. Poor design yes, but that's all I can think of given that there's nothing blocking...

    2021 Tahoe T18 floor storage won’t drain

Have the same boat. There's nothing obstructing the drain? How are you storing the boat? If the bow is tipped down, any water would run to the bow and into that storage locker between the seats. Tilt the boat up with the jack so it's very bow high and then pour water in. If there's no...

4 blade to 3 blade, speed?

17 pitch 4 blade, and the RPM's are being recorded through Vessel View. I don't know how much more accurate you can get with a bluetooth module connected into the engine. We're seeing around 5,300rpm with 4 people on it and around 55-5,600rpms with 2-3 people.

4 blade to 3 blade, speed?

It is not the CT model, just the regular gear case. It's on a Tahoe T18. With 4 people we hit around 41mph, with 2 people we hit around 43 and with just one I've hit 45mph. So it's definitely got a lot of power and can carry a load well, I'd mainly like to get our RPM's more towards the max of...

4 blade to 3 blade, speed?

I understand that is between two comparable 4 blades, but if we went with a 15 pitch 3 blade, would that increase our speed?

4 blade to 3 blade, speed?

Our engine is a 115 Mercury Pro XS, WOT rev range of 5300-6300 Full throttle RPM 5300-6300 https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/engines/outboard/pro-xs/115-150hp/

4 blade to 3 blade, speed?

How much speed do you gain, going from a 4 blade to a 3 blade? Assuming RPM's stay the same, or increase a little. Just curious, obviously it won't be the same across the board, but what would you estimate? 1-2mph? 3-4? We're getting 45mph out of a 4 blade at ~5,600rpm, so a bit over propped...

Forklift dropped boat on ground - damage?

I don't typically get fired up about much anymore, and it sounds like you're fairly similar. That said, there is a point where enough is enough. The fact is, the marina damaged your boat. Doesn't matter how old the boat was, or what condition it was in, they damaged it. Since the owner doesn't...

    Weeds and jets

Before we had our current outboard boat, we had one of those Merc sport jets, and man, did it suck up weeds like a hoover. Being more of a boat, it really was a pain to clear the weeds out, couldn't really get back on it if you jumped in and the stern was too long to reach past and get to the...

Starting a jet boat out of water

Is there anything hurt by running them dry for maybe 30 seconds? I know with an outboard there's a rubber impeller, but unsure with a jet.

    Anyone use a river anchor?

What weight did you have? I've seen people use mushroom anchors before, without much luck. You wouldn't think the river anchor would work so well, since it's basically just a modified mushroom, but I was pleasantly surprised. Glad to hear yours worked well. Sometimes a simple $30 anchor from...

    Anyone use a river anchor?

The one we have is nearly identical to this. 12lbs connected to 5 feet of chain and 100 feet of line. https://www.overtons.com/coated-12-lb.-river-anchors-315400.html I keep it as a secondary/stern anchor, and actually used it this past weekend to hold our stern in place. Had the danforth off...

Looking for a light, all around anchor

Not my anchor but there are many people with this same idea. Basically the chain is fastened at the top and then held in place, like normal, with zip ties. The anchor will work in the standard fashion, but should it get caught or hung up upon retrieval, yanking on it while it's stuck will break...

'22 Mercury 115 Pro XS, best prop?

When I say "fully trimmed out" I do not mean the engine is tilted beyond what it should be, I mean that we get up on plane, push the throttle all the way down, get moving and then start bumping the trim up. Oddly enough, being at or near the trim limiter on the engine nets us our fastest speed...

Looking for a light, all around anchor

I'm thinking of drilling a hole near the top of the middle section of the anchor, fastening the shackle there and then zip tying the chain to the bottom, as a break away.

Looking for a light, all around anchor

We do have a secondary anchor, just a 12lb river anchor (like a mushroom but it has 3 spades, if you will), tied to the stern, or on other front side cleat would probably help to eliminate the swing. We mainly just wanted to test out the baby anchor by itself, run it through it's paces. In the...

Looking for a light, all around anchor

Interesting, we've anchored out three times with this anchor set up so far. 4lb danforth on 10 feet of chain and it held just fine, every time, even when the wind picked up and we were being swung around on the lake, but even though our boat kept swinging in the wind, we never pulled the anchor...

Looking for a light, all around anchor

Anchored three times so far, both times the "baby" anchor held no problem in sand and muck, even when backing down hard. On one occasion, with the wind drifting our boat around, we swung quite a bit, but it never pulled the anchor out. Pulling up the 10 feet of chain and anchor was no problem...

'22 Mercury 115 Pro XS, best prop?

Mostly lakes, and rivers. Typically are not seeing super rough water, the most I'd expect to see would be 3 footers.

'22 Mercury 115 Pro XS, best prop?

Aren't you supposed to "trim it out?" Above a certain RPM range the engine won't let us trim any further. Up until this limit, the RPM's keep climbing until we hit the trim limit around 5,300. Fully trimmed in is about 4,500 rpm at 30mph. Trimmed as far as the engine will at WOT, we get the...
