    New Carb and Low RPMs

The throttle plate opens fully and the problem most likely is that one spark plug wire was off making it a 5cyl engine. I will test it on the water in a few days.

    New Carb and Low RPMs

I do have the numbers in a manual. But to check the carb parts, that means I will have to crack the new carb open to look at the jet numbers, right? If I do that will I need a new gasket?

    New Carb and Low RPMs

Yes the choke opens all the way. Not sure about the throttle, I'll look at that. The problem with the old carb was it was hard to start, some of the components were really worn and always smelt heavy on the fuel (most likely float issue). The new carb start great, runs smooth but lacks on top...

    New Carb and Low RPMs

I installed a new 2bbl carb from Guaranteed Carbs. Since installing the RPMs won't get past 4000rpms with WOT. Idles great, starts great and runs good. Could they have installed the wrong jets? Do I need to adjust something? Boat is 98 Maxum 1800sr (4600-4800rpms is spec at around 42mph)...

    Hard Start All The Time

Starting procedure is to give it 1/4 to 1/3 throttle to start hot or cold and back off when started. When running there is a heavy smell of fuel out the exhaust. I set the air/fuel mixture screw at 3/4 backed out because it ran the smoothest like that. I'm going to put a new float in when I...

    Hard Start All The Time

I have a 4.3L Mercruiser with a 2bbl carb (807764A1). It has a hard start hot or cold. No matter what I do it takes a while of turning over to eventually fire up. Once warmed up it idles great at 650-700rpm. It has a mechanical fuel pump that is new. The electric choke is set and when cold, the...

    Should I install Fuel/Water Separator?

I have a 1998 Maxum 1800SR with a 1988-92 Mercruiser block (serial# 0C319801). i has a mechanical fuel pump with an fuel filter on it and a screen at the 2bbl carb. I am considering installing a fuel/water separator because I'm in a humid environment. What type of fuel/water separator should I...
