    Looking for experienced opinions on setting up autopilot on a 1984 Alpha 1 Gen 1 power assisted stern drive (22' with 3.8L). It's for a fishing boat that I will ultimately connect the 9.9 kicker with an EZ steer connector.

    Scott, appreciate the in-depth details. A lot to absorb... So to confirm, if in fact the motor a 3.8l and not a 4.3l as advertised, is there any interchangeability between the two? I am primarily looking motor mount, electrical, and the outdrive.

    I would caution anyone doing using that method... 1 cubic foot of water = 62.4 lbs. Do the math and the overall weight adds up quickly. Add in a rusty trailer and it's probably not the safest thing to be under that boat/trailer on a creeper with no time to react if something gives quickly...
