Hose under engine open??? Please help

I dont know what years had it. But here are 2 bell housings. One is from 1986 and the other is from 1996. I took the flywheel cover off of the one on the right to show where the hose comes through, marked with blue tape. The hose is there to drain out any water or oil that might acumulate down...

Hose under engine open??? Please help

I have a 96 and 86 omc 4.3. Both have the same tube. Like Bondo said its to drain the water out of the flywheel cover. My 86 was missing the tube and had no detrimental effect. But if ther is anything draining from it then you have a problem somewhere.

Omc 4.3? What did i buy?

So what ive ben able to gather on my own is that converting this motor over to a roller cam with the parts i have is not going to happen. This block does not have the necessary castings built in to accommodate the factory lifter guides. Yes i can convert it over with a Comp Cam roller cam kit...

Well shoot, i was under the impression this was a 1996 motor like mine. So its about a decade older than my original motor. Will this still work? What are the possibilities of swaping parts over like heads, intake, carb, distributor , cam and lifters?
