Merc 6HP electrics

Hello All, I have a 2006 Mercury 6HP 4 stroke, tiller steering, pull start. I'd like to charge a small sealed lead acid battery, around 7-12 Ahr, to run a fish finder & GPS. Is there a way to do it?

    8hp pull starter

Sorry, but I did a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. I was asked to look at a friends 8hp 2 stroke. For a while, pulling the starter cord didn't turn over the engine. I had no tools to take the flywheel cover off, but it cured itself. He doesn't want to row back the next time! Any...

    Engine restriction

What does the control unit do to restrict the engine to a particular HP - Fuel delivery? RPM? - at a given RPM why should one engine give a lower power output than another? ie 50HP vs 60HP EFI 4 stroke

    Mercury 50 & 60 EFI 4 strokes

In trying to decide between these two motors, I looked at the spec and noticed that they appeared identical, except for the difference in power output. What do mercury do to the 50 to make it less powerful than the 60 (or vice versa)?

    Stuck??? engine

    Mercury 115HP '95 two stroke.

This has happend a couple of times. After a long run, switch off engine and start drift. Engine starts fine but stalls when put into gear. The starter fails to turn over. Resort to starting cord. Very stiff (once almost impossible to turn), but once...

    Regulators: OEM or not?

I suspected I'd blown my regulator using the battery switch while running - no tacho, volts at battery the same whether engine running or not. The Seloc manual has a static resistance test.

Did the static test after a fashion - I don't have thick and thin red wires. The tach...

    Mercury Parts express page

On which page is the voltage regulator for a 115 4cyl - I've tried the electrics page, the block page and any other likely page - am I blind?

    Battery switch

I think I have made and expensive mistake. My tacho stopped working and in searching previous posts learned that:

1. The tacho signal is derived from the voltage regulator
2. The VR can blow when the battery is disconnected.
3. Some battery switches disconnect when switching...

    Tacho signal

Where in the engine does the tacho get it's signal from? What should be the range of voltages on this wire - can't find a single mention of any tacho signal in my Seloc manual. Mercury 115 HP 4 cyl. 2 stroke.

    RPM limiter Mercury115

I had a no-fire situation which was resolved when the second kill wire going from the RPM limiter to the CDI unit was disconnected. The engine now starts better than it ever did (in my hands).

I think there was a problem with this for a long time - the warning control unit is wired...
