    Battery issue Mercruiser 3.0

Thx bondo, Battery installed in boat with no charger attached reads 12.84v...when the stall happened, the motor did restart, but the turnover was very slow. When I returned to the dock after a 30 minute ride the battery read 11.2v....leads me to think the alternator wasn't doing its job. What...

    Battery issue Mercruiser 3.0

Hi all, Have a 1989 Searay with a 3.0 liter merccuiser engine. For the last little while when under way the engine stalls...it restarts but always with a slugish battery turnover. I removed the battery and fully charged it to 13.7v. then returned it to the boat. I put a multimeter on the cables...

    Mercruiser 3.0 electrical problem?

Thanks airshot....will do that, but just going to let the battery charge fully and give it another try to see if it replicates....if so testing of both is what it will be!

    Mercruiser 3.0 electrical problem?

Hi all, I have a 1989 SeaRay 160 bow rider with a mercruiser 3.0. Today I was having trouble starting it, so checked the battery....11.22v. I used a battery pack to start the motor thinking that if I took it for a good run the battery would charge. Whilst underway the guages that were electric...

    Damaged leg

Hi all, Taking the boat out for the winter, I forgot to lift the lag, and have broken off a small chunk right at the end of the fin. Can this be rounded out with a grinder or.....? and will it affect the running of the boat? Also, last time the boat was out the tach worked fine..this time no...

    Mercruiser 3.0 unexplained rotational noise

Thanks guys for the advice...I'll take the prop off and run without to see what happens....altho I know when I replaced the prop last year I definately put the thrust washer back on...it ran without this noise/ vibration for 2/3 hours, and I have not touched the prop since. Thanks

    Mercruiser 3.0 unexplained rotational noise

Thanks Bondo..... it's on the buoy at the moment so will check that later. I don't think there's anything rubbing on the lower unit but will check. If nothing's rubbing do I need to pull her out and take the leg off to see if the prop shaft is straight?

Thx Bondo...the prop was replaced new last season and probably has 2-3 hours on it max. What should I be looking for with the prop shaft....do I need to pull the leg? I was thinking maybe CV joint or. ... Thx again

    Mercruiser 3.0 unexplained rotational noise

Hi all, Just put my boat in the water for the first time this season, and have noticed a rotational noise and slight vibration when in gear that increases with the rpm. This does not happen when out of gear. Can someone suggest where I start to diagnose what the issue might be? Thanks

    Swim grid ladder mounting

Just for everyone's info...I contacted JB Weld about sealing the JB Marine Weld with something and they advised it's not necessary....said any clear coat over top would enhance UV rays. Thanks for all the help.

    Swim grid ladder mounting

Thanks Jim....yes....another blunder....didn't mention that the old holes were right beside the new mounts,.....but on the outside!!! I'll keep researching....but in the meantime should I seal the JB Weld with something? Boat going in the water in a few days. Thanks.

    Swim grid ladder mounting

JimS123....I really appreciate your idea...it would be ideal but the space between the two madder mounts is exactly 8", and the step in post #8 is 8 3/8"....also the space on the outside of the ladder mounts is 6", so I'm not able to fit a few of these horizontally. I've added a photo describing...

    Swim grid ladder mounting

The problem I have is that the holes from the old ladder mount are immediately beside the new mount, and the space I have crossways is less than the length of such an ss step. The only think I could do is mount them up and down either side of the current mounts...not sure how this would look...

JimS123....did you mean something like this?

    Swim grid ladder mounting

Thanks JimS123....would you by chance have a link for these? I'm guessing you are referring to stainless steel pieces that fit on the top of RV steps....that type of thing? Any help appreciated.

    Swim grid ladder mounting

Sorry guys for the misleading terminology...have included a photo of the area of the boat I called the "swim Grid". I've completed the replacement of the ladder, and now have one additional question. The mounting brackets for the new ladder would not line up with the old holes, so I've filled...

    Swim grid ladder mounting

Hmmm.....64 people read my question but no one has any advice or comments? Since posting I thought perhaps stainless steel toggle bolts might be the answer? I'd really appreciate any feedback here as I'd like to get this done. Thanks

    Swim grid ladder mounting

Hi all, Last year I posted about changing out my swim grid ladder....the current one is too short for an oldie like me, and I'm finally getting around to it. The problem I have is the Hoffen 4 step telescoping ladder, and the reviews I've read suggest that using the screws that came with it to...

Some questions about windshield and seat post

Scott, I think the window frame is bent...I have looked this boat over thoroughly, and altho not a Marine engineer, I can see no rot. The seat post has a new plastic sleeve, but despite that, where the post meets the base in the photo is very loose....should it be like that?? And fyi....I...
