    New guy, floor repair questions

I think the putty you bought would do the trick. The container should tell you how long before you can get it wet.

Take everyone's advise and ditch the boat. I'd also get aluminum if I had my time back as suggested above.

    Manual jack plate starting height

What about going slow speed? I guess she sits lower and thus immerses the prop?

    Commonality with Auto Works

My BIL has a new Nissan, that thing even tells you when are switching from paved road to dirt road. I love all the new tech. Wish my 2015 F150 had a backup camera every time I'm trying to back my truck up to the boat trailer hitch. I guess I'm getting lots of exercise hopping out of the truck...

    towing - engine in neutral?

If the kicker was in neutral but the prop was in contact with the water, do you think that would do damage? I did that for a short time the other day before I realized the kicker wasn't raised enough to clear the water.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I think I'd buy/sell if I could swing it money wise. Once you start a conversion you will lose big on any resale value and you might not even like the result.....

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I guess thats where the second engine comes in, it gets you home, then you play with the faulty one.

This happened today, and in the blistering heat.

I was just thinking the same thing! I didn't even know there was a wood backing on those things. I never really gave it much thought.

    Sacrificial Aluminum Prop

Interesting. I did a bit of research and it does indeed appear that big motors at high speeds do cause noticeable flex/ pitch problems. Also ss props can be more easily made into more cupped blades. You learn something new every day! Won't be a problem for me with my 90hp. My wife won't let me...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Another thing I always worried about was if a bellow springs a big leak, you have a big hole in the back of your boat below the waterline!
