Hello. I recent went to remover the cover on my 2005 Mercury verado where the shift shaft comes out of the lower unit. As I was pulling it off I accidentally pulled the shift shaft up with it and it came out . I didn’t hear any noise or anything when I removed it. So I carefully pushed it back...
