I am thinking of buying this Mariner 60, but I don't know its age, whether it's Mercury or Yammy built and if the engine had any common faults I ought to be wary of.

Further to my earlier postings re finding the necessary bits, I can confirm that a UK company, E P Barrus of Bicester, do market a full kit of parts to convert the engine from tiller control to full remotes - the kit is much, much cheaper than buying all the individual linkages etc. separately. :)
