    when were johnson & evinrude the same

    during what years where johnson and evinrude motors EXACTLY the same. I have an opportunity to buy used factory manuals for the 1974 50 HP evinrude I am gouing to rebuild but they are listed as johnson. I would like to know as this (rebuilding motors)is becoming a hobby.

    what is the difference between blocks

    After rebuilding my 40 HP 1991 johnson I could only find 3 differences between the 40 and 50 HP other than options. the reed blocks, the orifices in the carbs. and the block/crankcase. Is there any difference except more threaded holes for options on the 50HP?<br /><br />Bruce

    I just rebuilt a 40hp 1991 johnson. my dealer gave me Ql78YC (gapped to .030) but the book says Ql78C (gapped to .030) . what is the difference? is this a problem? Is there any change that must be made in the carburetion when both cylinders have been bored out by .030
