I have a 92' 40HP Mercury Outboard on my boat. I am looking at repowering with a 2005 Suzuki 50HP 4 stroke.
Does anybody know if the Mercury controls will work for the Suzuki? I understand the electrical wouldn't match right up, but I would be fine with splicing.

Is there a non OEM hydraulic steering oil available?
For Seastar or Uflex as used on an outboard engine.
Is it just 5W or 10W hydraulic oil?
The OEM stuf is $11+ per quart.
