I cant get my 2009 Merc 9.9 to start, or even to act like it might start.. The motor appears to be near new, no corrosion anywhere. I checked for spark on both cylinders with an in-line tester, and no spark. I also disconnected the black/yellow wire leading to the kill and tiller stop switches...
This motor will not start and I am wondering if the missing Lanyard, which somehow attaches to the start/stop toggle switch, and on the other end to my belt, is the problem.
Anyone know if the lanyard is required to be in place for the motor to start?
