Can anyone please tell me how to run this serial number down and find out the year and model and Horse Power rating of
this Mariner 2 stroke outboard I just purchased?

I have a 15 HP Mariner 2 stroke that is at least 20 years old.
I just bought it and it runs great. They only thing is the pull rope needs to be replaced. I want to do that before I take it out on the lake.
Is this hard to do or should I let a Mercury repair tech do this?
