    seabuddy re: seabuddy

Some know me on the board but many do not. Let me fill in some details, if I may. BTW, I generally ask those who know me not to bring it up on the boards. I want to keep my personal life separate from my boating board stuff and in this way I occasionally find good friends from the board...

    Swim ladder, mounted or detached?

A detachable swim ladder can be hung from the curved section of this transom on the metal rectangle. Would this work well for you?

    Plaque...along the Hudson

Our nation?s waterways have many uses and interesting sites for us boaters to enjoy. Here?s a Plaque that recalls one of the uses that is perhaps not seen often, ship storage. The ?Mothball Fleet? was the outcome of a committee that was first set-up in 1943, during WW II. The last ship on the...

    Touch of Class act

At an in-the-water boat show, I saw a very classy treatment for an otherwise dead spot between the floats and a boat on display. It?s the company?s logo skimming the water?s surface. The logo was mounted on a rectangular dark plaque. Very much a top-notch touch-of-class in my book!

    Allow for more boat protection?

Here?s a scratch that begged the question? does the boat need more fenders or more rub rails? So what do you think? Should boat designers spend more time thinking about how we use our boats so they could design better protection?

Fenders, speakers, or stuff along the transom area?

Here?s a new use for the lockers located at the transom: Speakers. These sure take up the space that usually is reserved for storing fenders and other items. Good or bad idea?

Bowrider boat for NYC on the Hudson River

A good friend, his two boys, and I had a blast in a 20-foot bow rider on the Hudson River. At first I wondered whether we would need a larger boat for that waterway. So, in a sense, this post is about how to have fun with what you?ve got. The George Washington Bridge. It was a...

20 foot boat, Gas or diesel, I/O or O/B

A friend thinks he wants a 20' boat with more seating behind the windscreen for a better ride, and he?s found a boat that he thinks will do it. The reason for placing the extra seating in the back of the boat? He figures that the further back towards the transom, the better the ride will be. In...

?Golden Era? boating on a Queen of a Lake

I had the opportunity to cruise on a majestic lake in a boat perfectly matched with its natural grandeur. Let me tell you the story… A 1930 Gar Wood triple cockpit and her owner gave me a boating experience that can’t be matched. She was a 30' long precursor to cigarette boats--polished, buffed...

New Power System Will Drive Boat Sales

Here’s THE reason to buy a new twin engine boat this coming spring. It’s that good. It’s that intuitive. And it’s changing the playing field for twin engine boats. On a soaking, snotty, rainy day that should have made for a miserable first test, I got to run the best thing to hit 30' to 35'...

Florida to Bimini in Bahamas in a Monterey bowrider w/photos

Looking out to the rising sun and Atlantic Ocean while within the inlet. Leaving Biscayne Bay in So Florida. Note: Photos added 5/25 There was no other boat in sight. No land to see off in the distance. Nothing. I was alone on the Atlantic Ocean about 11 miles off the coast of South Florida...

Ocean / Biscayne Bay / Bowrider / Key Largo – FL / Seabuddy / Part II

We traveled almost 25 miles along the length of Key Largo, and pulled in twice to explore the coastline. The first stop resulted from a misunderstanding: the Harbormaster holding that night's reservation for our Monterey bowrider’s slip had instructed me to "turn in at the channel marked with a...

Ocean / Biscayne Bay / Bowrider / down & back / Key Largo - So FL / Seabuddy

Parrott_Head and I looked down, over the side of the boat, and saw the tracks buzz-cut in the bottom’s sea grass by other boaters' props that had traveled a similar path to ours over the shallows. Lucky for us, the water level was up and kept us from adding a fresh marker with our stainless...
