    1974ish Johnson 70hp powershift 2 question.

Well, like any Electronic Ignition System, it is reliable until it quits working. Keep in mind it is 50+ yrs old, and replacement parts can be difficult to find. While the earlier versions of this Motor did have Points(still Electronic though), by 74 they were Breakerless. There are 3 carbs...

Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

If you go back and read the reviews and comparisons carefully, they weren't exactly on the Up and Up. They certainly didn't make sure the Props being used for comparison to were setup for best Performance. When I read them, I thought I was reading a Paid Promotion, kind of like an Infomercial

    1974ish Johnson 70hp powershift 2 question.

It is 50+ yrs old. They were good engines in their day, and were quite versatile, and offered good Fuel Economy. Were they Perfect? No, they had their share of Problems. They were producing almost 1 1/2hp per cubic inch, and propping was critical if you wanted a long engine life as overpropping...

Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

The RAKER is a Good Prop, the Enteria is Better. RAKER was introduced in 1985 and the Enertia in 2005. Props haven't changed much since, though was some goofy looking thing a few year ago, that a couple of people on this Board were tripping over their Tongues about, but it has NEVER been...

Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

No, I was running an OMC RAKER in the Pics of Boat moving. The Black Prop was the AL Prop that came with the Boat. I still have it as a Spare Here are my 3 SS Props. In the Center is the Enertia, the others are RAKERs

Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

5.7. It wasn't offered with the 5.7 but rather with a 5.0 with EFI(horsepower was the same as a 5.7 with a 2bbl Carb), but still, it came out of the Factory with the 5.7(I think there were 6 or 7 of them, used at a Dealer Convention/Show). Wouldn't want anything smaller in it. It has enough...

That Hull doesn't have a Pad. I was taking the Picture, my Cousin was in the Boat

Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

I highly recommend the Mercury Enertia. Been running one for over 20 yrs, prior to it I was running an OMC RAKER. The Enertia, lifts the entire Hull vertically, and still gives good Bow Lift. The Outdrive is not producing a Roostertail, so I am not over trimming

    SNOW Common Sense

This was one nights' snowfall in April of 85. Motor was running when I took the pic. Drove it out of there about 20 minutes later. One Wheel Drive, with 1980's Winter Tires on the rear

    2020 DF35A 30hp conversion.

An increase in Horsepower from any given Displacement, requires raising the Rpm at which the Hp is attained by shifting the Torque Curve Upward, which 95 out of 100 times results in weaker Low Rpm Torque. Repropping, with a lower Pitch will hide some of that, and allows the engine to operate in...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I can adjust the Level of Heat when it is on, but I can't adjust the Temp at which it turns On, which is about 10C(50F)

That's about 5C. which to me is way too Early. Cadillac doesn't, or didn't provide a way to adjust the Temp, only on or off. Even when it was -30c a couple of Months ago, I was turning the Wheel and Seat Heaters off in less than 3 minutes

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Have had Heated Seats for 30 yrs, and actually HATE them. They and the Heated Steering Wheel come on when it 10C, that is Way Too Early. At -20C maybe, but not 10C. BTW, the Temp where they come on is Not Adjustable The Ventilated Seats are a Different Matter. Those are Nice to have, especially...
