The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
C****slist seems to be loaded with scammers. The motors are very hard to pack and ship which makes *bay difficult
Would selling them altogether motivate someone to come to see and buy them?
Why am I selling? I went through endless misery over parts. I can't find an honest mechanic to work on...
To do vacuum and pressure with Stevens Instruments you need two separate rigs. It has been suggested that a Mityvac would work for both pressure and vac testing.
Has anyone found off the shelf hoses and fittings to make this work? Stevens sells an adapter for small OMC outboards (34A, $4.70)...
A small motor shop has been working on my 1955 Evinrude 7.5hp Fleetwin. They claim they have to detach the lower unit from the powerhead to change the impeller.
I looked at the exploded view in the manual which is supposed to be for all models 3hp-9.9. It looks like the impeller is located...
I have 2 different style pressure tanks and I know there are at least 3 used by Johnson/evinrude.
Is there a pressure tank expert out there who could do a sticky on the identification and repair of pressure tanks. I know vintageoutboard has 3 different style rebuild kits
Thanks
First the good news:
Bases for full sized swivel seats installed fore and aft
Twin cleats installed fore and aft: when running the motor on a big lake we have to tie up
at marinas to fuel up
Cleat and anchor brake are installed in the bow:
A substantial anchor in an anchor rode bag from...
Last time it was at least partially correct
This time they sent my order to someone else and my repair shop got the wrong one and it cost me labor before we figured out the problem.
The iboats wanted me to wait for the other customer to send me my parts. They ignored my email and hoped I...
Why do we "need" another outboard motor? There is a mystery, akin to what I feel wading into an unfamiliar trout stream with a fly rod or walking into grouse cover heretofore unvisited. A motor is listed in Craigslist as a '62 Evunrude 7.5hp outboard.
What did the seller get wrong or omit...
I have been offered a complete but seized one for $75. Parts seem to be very scarce. Is there a source for gaskets, seals, carb parts, oversized pistons & rings?
Thanks
1979 was an oddball year for the Evinrude - it was the only year the motors were fitted with a tiny impeller.
What are the correct part #'s for a larger housing and impeller kit that will fit the '79? I have heard of people doing it and want to convert mine.
Thanks!
David
'53 Evinrude...
I know it has an odd-ball impeller. I have a chance to buy a nice running one for $150 (no tank)
I like the fact that it has CDI and a fuel pump. I have a '53 and a '63 3hp and wanted to try the newer series.
I will wait if people think this is not a good year.
Thanks
