The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
Thanks for the feedback. I changed the fuel/water separator and added dry gas .... ran it at about 4,000 RMP/35MPH for close to an hour with no issues. I'm posting a pic of what came out of the filter next to fresh gas. I'm down to just under a quarter tank; wondering if I should go ahead and...
Thank you for the feedback. Sounds like you don't think it's water -- but changing the fuel water separator did result in significant improvement. Worthwhile to dump out the separator and try some dry gas?
Last season my 2003 boat started running poorly at high RPM’s …. Bogging during fast acceleration, acting as if it was being throttled down while running, going from fast to low RPM’s on its own, etc. I was unable to throttle past 2,000 RPM’s, but boat started and idled without a problem...
The shift bellows failed and I got a lot of water in the boat, and in both the other bellows as well. I was able to power in to shore without a problem and let it drain, but evidently water splashed up on the starter as well. So I think all three bellows are going to need to be replaced, but...
Had a bad boating day yesterday; rough seas and more weight than usual; like riding a wheely trying to get up on plane, and it was too rough to maintain speed and stay on plane. My 2003 23' Glastron V8 Mercruiser does not have a power trim; all I can do is tilt the outdrive. A little research...
My 2003 Glastron with a Mercruiser 5.0L has developed a pinhole leak in the oilpan. I'll wait till 2016 to get it replaced, but I assume the engine will need to be pulled. I've had some fuel issues over the season; how much more work would it be to replace the fuel tank while the engine is...
I had bogging issues past 2,000 rpms discussed in another post. After rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the fuel pump the boat ran beautifully. Four hours of event-free cruising, and then I filled up the tank. A half hour later, the boat bogged and backfired; tried to get it going...
This forum offered a lot of helpful information to this thread http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engine-repair-and-maintenance/mercruiser-i-o-inboard-engines-outdrives/9971956-mercruiser-alpha-one-3-0-v8-bogs-won-t-go-over-2000-rpm .... I'm still having problems and wanted to start a new thread...
My 2003 Glastron starts fine, idles smoothly, but won't hit high speed. .... when I try to accelerate it just bogs. The boat cruises along at idle for hours just fine, but when you try to go past 2000 rpm's it just bogs. Mechanic checked the fuel/water filter and it was fine; he was...
When starting my Mercruiser Alpa 1 I usually push the throttle forward before cranking the engine to give it extra gas. However more and more when I do that the engine won't turn over; I assume because it thinks it's in gear. It used to be that I could jiggle the throttle/shifter back and...
I have this Garmin unit which I'm very happy with but the Screen's just not reliable anymore .... goes off on its own sometimes, screen impossible to read others .... I wouldn't mind buying a replacement, but I'd like to just replace the unit, not the piece that sits under the boat, or the power...
I noticed a leak around the line feeding into the trim pump. I went to tighten it and the brass fitting between the pump housing and the house broke! Evidenly there is a male flared piece with a tiny screen and an O-ring that has a female connector for the flared fitting on the hydraulic line. I...
My 2008 dual axle EZ Load seemed to have problems with the brakes locking when I'm backing the trailer up. Doesn't seem to happen when there's no boat on the trailer. Now I'm really stuck... can't pull forward anymore, and the brakes are locked when I back up. I've tried everything I could...
I took the 2003 Glastron GS229 we just bought, with its Mercruiser 5.0 and Alpha One outdrive, out for our first ride. When I tried to raise the outdrive for a shallow-water exit, it just clicked, even though I had been able to tilt up/down while trailered in my driveway. When I pulled into a...
1. We have a relatively shallow channel before I hit deep water, and I don't want to ruin my outdrive trying to get out. Does anyone have any practical experience with the "real life" depth requirements for this vessel, cruising slowly with the outdrive up raised as much as possible?
2. At...
