I have a 1997 40hp force.(which says by Mercury on it. I just wanted to know what are the best spark plugs(NGK etc..) to use. What octane fuel should I run? and is the water pump impellor easy to change on this. Thanks in advanced ! -Chris
I recently rplaced the retainer plate behind my carrier housing and noticed half of a tooth was broken on my drive gear coming down from the upper housing. My quetion is can I use it this weekend because I have had this trip planned for six months? Thanks guys, I know this is a stupid question...

When I removed my carrire housing in my OMC I noticed the 4 screws that attach it were stripped. I know this is not normal but where can I get the screws with the seals that go on them? and are there any tricks to getting the old prop shaft gasket out with nicking or screwing up the carrier...

I cant get past about 3500 RPMS. 4.3 OMC 21 pitch prop.(which I think may be the issue but I wanted a second opinion) 17.5 ft open bow stratos about 3300 lbs. When I trim way up it gets up there close but it jumps out of the water.
Have we come up with the solution on the building of the electric shift box for the OMC application. Epoxy, Shrink wrap, etc...? I would like to know for refrence Thanks -Chris

After running my boat I noticed black soot on my stainless steel prop where the exhaust exits. Is this pretty normal for a motor that has not been ran in a month and a half?
When I am at idle my lights are dim. When I get into it a little the lights get brighter. Could this be the battery? or would it be more on the alternator going bad?
