    Trolling motor handle height?

How high do trolling motor handles normally go? I am going to order one online, but the specs don't say, just the depth of the motor. I'd like to use the trolling motor while standing at the back of my pontoon, but that seems like it might be a bit high up.

Anyone have their tow rig painted to match their boat?

So, my old truck is desperately in need of a paint job, and I am toying with the idea of painting it to match my boat since mostly it's sole purpose in life is now going to be for hauling the boat. Has anyone here done this? I can't decide if it seems a bit dorky or not.

Anyone have a TV on their toon?

I am thinking about getting a small LED TV for my toon so the kids can watch a DVD while the adults are sitting around chatting. LED TVs sip power, and, I think, will work ok in the sunlight. If not, it should be fine under the bimi. They are really light too, so fabbing a suitable mount...

    Mercury SmartCraft Guage

Anyone use one for the Troll Control feature? Where did you get it? Worth the price? Does it actually drop the RPM lower than how low it goes if you just throttle down in gear? http://www.mercurymarine.com/gauges-and-controls/gauges-and-displays/digital/sc1000-sc100/

Trolling motor idea - pontoon boat

I am thinking about chopping the bottom off of a trolling motor and mounting it sort of hidden under the deck of my pontoon boat. I don't really want a trolling motor mounted to the edge of the bow, or one mounted to the transom. I will run power wires to a pedal at my console, or maybe some...

    Humminbird PiranhaMAX 170 review

I just installed and used my first fish finder. It is a Humminbird PiranhaMAX 170 with transducer included. Installation was a breeze, with the exception that one of the screws broke. I was installing it on a flange that sticks off from my pontoon. I ended up going with a bolt,washer,nut...

Can I add a rail on my pontoon or got a better idea?

I have two kids (7 and 4) and they love swimming around our pontoon. Currently I tie a rope drooped between two of the tie-up points and let them grab onto that when they are just hanging around in the water (yes, they have life jackets on and I am in the water with them). The problem with...

Very rookie fisherman, need tips for where to find fish.

I am very new to fishing. I am going to be fishing on a fairly large lake this Sunday (Lake Berryessa, Napa, CA). We had a guide planning to go out with us, but he ended up having to work. We still want to go out though. I am installing my fishfinder on Saturday. We are planning on getting...

    Boating on bays

There are a few bays that are quite a ways inland near me and I am wondering if anyone has advice on whether or not I can go there. I know the basics about dropping my boat in salt water, though I have read that these bays have low salt anyway. I am very new to boating, and the only advice I...

    Boating in choppy water?

I have a 22' pontoon with a 60HP motor. In the recent weeks, the lake that we go to has been choppy due to the winds. I'd say the chop is about 1-1.5' and tosses us all around. We have been staying in the coves, but the coves close to the dock are crowded. I am wondering if I speed up and...

    Hello, from California

Hi, everyone. New member here. I just signed up and can't wait to share boating stories and, hopefully, find some boating buddies in my area. I boat on Lake Berryessa and plan to also visit Folsom Lake and Lake Tahoe. I own a 2012 Sun Tracker Party Barge 22' with a 60HP BigFoot and I love it...
