    85 merc thunderbolt with high voltage problem

    85hp thunderbolt ser.# 4095472 has 16 to 18 volts output I replaced the rectifier but didnt help. mechcanics wont work on it do to the distribitor, could the stator be the problem? can it be ohmed out?:confused:
