    pull cord will not retract

    Hello, I have a 1973 200 merc 20hp motor and the pull cord will not retract back into pull position. I have removed from motor but need to know how to adjust so that pull cord will retract. thank you for your time.

    20HP MERCURY THUNDERBOLT

    HAD MY 20HP OUTBOARD IN SHOP. HAD NEW CARBEURATOR AND SEALS and new water pump PUT IN. MECHANIC SAID GEARS LOOK FANTASTIC. WHEN WE GOT IT BACK IT RAN GREAT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. IT WAS VERY FAST.
