Mercruiser Big Block Gen 5 raw water pump pulley

Looking for a good used, single groove, V-belt pulley for a '92 Bravo (Gen 5) big block raw water pump to put on rebuilt spare pump assembly I have. Haven't found a used one and new ones are too pricey for a "spare".. For what a new one costs, I'll swap out the one I have, when the time comes...

    Trailer Lights

Re: Trailer Lights Let me chime in on this. 1st: #16 gauge wire is "rated" at 10 amps. 2nd: In the short runs on a trailer, usually less than 30 feet, the #16 will still pass 10 amps with no problems due to minimal added resistance 3rd: On long runs, the resistance of the wire will add up...

    how far off bunks

Re: how far off bunks Actually, the bunks should extend and inch or two past the transom. The transom is where a lot of the weight is and should be well supported when trailering, especially on bumpy roads. If you wory about transom mounted accessories, perhaps they should be mounted away...

Is it good idea to take away lower unit of stern drive for winterization?

Re: Is it good idea to take away lower unit of stern drive for winterization? My Bravo1 comes off every fall and sits on the stand in the garage for the winter. Boat trailer sits quite low and can't properly tilt bow up for winter without drive hitting ground when in full down position. Takes...

Wife and I took a drive up through the area yesterday and really liked what we saw. Stopped at "Down th Hatch" for lunch and we had a really good time. Anyone farmilliar with this lake? If so, where would be the best place to launch / retrieve with ample truck with trailer parking for an out...

    No cooling water

Re: No cooling water My 454 w/ Bravo1 did same thing. If a cheaper after market pump or impeller are used, sometimes they fail to pull a suction properly. Also, if there is any wear at all on the pump housing / impeller, the same can happen. When I used Mercruiser parts, the problem also went...

1988 7.4 Bravo One with a rattle noise

Re: 1988 7.4 Bravo One with a rattle noise This may help. I built this from a twenty buck dolly from Home Depot. Lower drive onto dolly, unbolt drive and roll it away from the stearn. No lifting involved at all. May need to raise / lower trailer tongue to get it to set right, but when done...

Boat does not stay up against the bow stop

Re: Boat does not stay up against the bow stop Like others have stated, the larger / heavier boats (my boat is over 5400 lbs dry) make winching a real treat. Sometimes mine settles after retrieval and bouncing down the road a couple of miles and I need to stop and take a turn on the winch /...

Electric Trailer Brakes Behind a Truck Without

Re: Electric Trailer Brakes Behind a Truck Without OK... That clears up some (lots) of questions. If you disconnect the wiring between the tow vehicle and the trailer, with E/H, the trailer should act as if it had no brakes at all, backing easily and all. I have the drawing for the wiring...

    Boat bounces on trailer.

Re: Boat bounces on trailer. 1st thing I see in your pic, it your winch is actually pulling up on the bow eye when the bow is resting against the stop, trying to lift the weight off the bunks. Not a good thing that will amplify the bouncing on bumps. Pay out your winch strap and wind it back...

    Building an Outdrive Stand

Re: Building an Outdrive Stand OK, Me to. Built on top of a Big Box home improvement ten bux dolley. No lifting on or off the boat. Roll it up and wrench away. Need to adjust, raise or lower trailer tongue jack. EASY and my back thanx me.

    Tachometer Issue

Re: Tachometer Issue That is normal to get "bit" from neg side of coil. Called "inductive kick". Happens when points open..... Here is a diagram for the tach. Is yours wired like this on on back of tach? If your coil wire is connected to the "IGN" connection, all kinds of strange things...

    eratic steering at idle speeds

Re: eratic steering at idle speeds Can't comment on the outboard thing, as I've never owned one. The Bennetts I put on are the Sport Tabs, which stick out further from the transom, than they are wide (16" long x 12" wide), which may be what makes the differance to the way my wander has...

    oil pressure gauge

Re: oil pressure gauge A bad ground (high resistance) would cause the gauge to read low. I'm going to have to ask the obvious here.. Are you sure you wired the back of the gauge correctly? 1. If the gauge is wired correctly AND 2. The wire from the gauge "S" terminal to the sender is not...

Boat Sliding up Bow Stop Roller on Braking

Re: Boat Sliding up Bow Stop Roller on Braking Actually, the bow eye between the 2 rollers is the proper way for it to sit, if the winch strap pulls it straight, or slightly downward. Here is a pic of mine and I have zero problem like you describe, bit I don't have rollers (which move much...

    outdrive storage position

Re: outdrive storage position Drive goes on stand and in garage when winterizing. Easire for me and takes a whopping 15 minutes with the home made stand. I always removed drive every year for normal maintenance steps and just made sense to do it this way, for me, anyway. Besides, when in...

Best way to lift sterndrive during reinstall

Re: Best way to lift sterndrive during reinstall I don't lift mine. Roll it up, adjust the trailer jack so all meets properly and slide her in.
