Mercruiser 5.7mpi horizon single cylinder burning lean

Ok still need to get a leak down tester but that motor is using a small amount of coolant. I think steam cleaning of the plug due to a head gasket or intake gasket leak might be the culperet. I will report back when I get some more testing done

Mercruiser 5.7mpi horizon single cylinder burning lean

I have changed that injector with new orings…. But those are individual to each cylinder so if it was leaking air then could be the cause. What’s the best way to test that…. Would be a new intake if that is the case I am assuming…

Not showing any signs of coolant use with fresh water cooled engine…. Not saying this isn’t the case. Most definitely something going on here

Mercruiser 5.7mpi horizon single cylinder burning lean

Ok I am trying to get photos of the plug, but here is the update. Changed the injector wires and ran the boat for a mile at 3200 and idled another 10 minutes minimum and no change in plug at all. So to date I have done the following basically eliminating a fuel deliver issue as far as I can...

Ok thanks!!! And I wondered if batch fired even mattered with testing since it is firing multiples together. I will check this this week hopefully

The wiring diagram I found looks like 1,4,6,7 are wired together with dark green and others are dark blue. Just checking to make sure 2,4 are the two I need to swap. If not I don’t know that 6 has enough slack to get to 4 https://www.scribd.com/document/95804729/Mercruiser-Electric

I have got a 2000 5.7 horizon mpi. When i pulled the plugs on it cylinder 4 was white on the porcelain with some black on the metal. Definaly burning lean from the other 7. Immediately lead me to a possible bad injector so i changed it out. I was pretty positive that was the problem since...

Mercruiser 5.7 Horizon MPI running rich / hard starting

I have a 2000 Mercruiser Horizon 5.7 MPI. Serial # 0L304797 When I start it up it is running very rich. The IAC valve is staying open much longer than the other side. It also seems to have a little less power than the other side. The rpms always climb up slower on that side. Sometimes in...

Primer bulb gas line seeping fuel

I have a 75 hp 2003 merc 2 stroke. The gas line from the permanent fuel tank will very slowly and I mean very slowly leak out some fuel... just enough to leave an oily residue in the rear transom well to collect dirt and make one heck of a mess... I have replaced the fuel line with a brand new...
