    1987 5.0 230

    I have a 1987 mercruiser 5.0 230hp with around 650hrs just lately i have noticed a wierd noise in back of the engine. It isn't a constant knock, more like a random ticking. There is no rythme to the noise it comes and goes, sometimes louder than others ? Anyone have any ideas ?

    Trim Cylinder removal

    I just got myself 4 new trim cylinders for my 1987 Cruisers, the problem is i can't get the hydraulic hoses off the old ones (probably original) i've tried some heat not too much i've tried penetrating oil but i can't get the lines lose. Does anyone know any tricks ?

    Oil Pressure

    I have a 1987 Cruisers with twin 5.0 230hp Mercruisers one of them idles at around 20 psi (oil pressure) the other at 40 psi. The low side goes up with the rpm and tops out at around 40 psi. Should i be looking into an oil pump ?

    1987 mercruiser 230 stalls in reverse

    I have a 1987 mercruiser 230 5.0 litre that stalls in reverse EVERY time, now it goes into reverse ( i can hear it engage ) but will not take fuel at all. If i try to speed it up it quits ??
