Force 2 cylinder throttle cable adustments

How does your remote control look like? Pics if you can post. Almost every remote control have a warm up function, only different way to use it. If you have a Chrysler remote control there is a knob that you pull out to engage the warm up function. US Marine remote have a button at the center of...

    Force 50HP Carb Notes: 1985, a 1987, and a 91-92

As jimmbo says, Brunswick (Mercury) bought Bayliner and they sold package boat, engine and trailer. The boat where equipped with Force engines and Brunswick got the Force engines in the bought. I think that was in late 80.e, in 1992-93 Brunswick started to put Mercury ignitions and lower units...

    1980 110(9.8) hp Mercury outboard

Check Ebay and do not go for Clymers or Seloc. Buy a factory manual. Blue wire "sky", top cylinder, green wire "grass" lower cylinder.

Agree with racerone, sounds it is jumping out of gear.

V4 - Minimize Chances of Broken Rings

I have read in prospects for OMC from mid 70.es and they highlights the keystone piston rings helps to rise the pressure from the rings to the cylinder bore in compression. If that is true or not I can not verify that. The problem is and Chrysler/Force have had the same problem with these...

How does my 1997 Force 75hp sound

Yes, sounds good in my opinion too.

Force 2 cylinder throttle cable adustments

As I mention earlier you set the timing at WOT (Wide Open Throttle). That is why I do not set it dynamic, you have to be at least two in the boat. 28dgr static running with the starter 250-300 RPM will end up at about 30dgr dynamic at WOT, one degree more or less does not matter.

Force 2 cylinder throttle cable adustments

metalchewy, the dynamic setting has to be under load. If you will adjust the timing in a barrel you have to have a test propeller. Hard to find and not worth the cost if you find one. Set the timing by static and leave it there. I always set it static when I do it, I also check the timing by...

Force 2 cylinder throttle cable adustments

metalchewy, lower cable for timing!!!!!!! The lower cable (your pic in previous post) is the shift cable! The upper cable is for the throttle. On these Force engines you set the timing at WOT. You can do it in two ways, static or dynamic. The dynamic give you the correct timing BUT you have to...

Force 2 cylinder throttle cable adustments

The scribed line at the throttle cam is the throttle pick up point. You adjust the throttle pick up point by losing the throttle rod from the ball at either the cam or the timing tower. Be careful when losing the rod from the ball, it can break the plastic connector. The roller i mounted with a...

Force 2 cylinder throttle cable adustments

The connector for the throttle is spring loaded (#3). The purpose of this is that the gear shifter will engage the gear fully before the throttle starts to move. The adjustment of the throttle connector is that the spring has to move about 1/4 in to fit into the ball connector. Then adjust the...

Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

A lot of videos at internet/Youtube presenting vintage OB of all brands have false information and are in my opinion bull ****. They are talking and showing pics of other things that they are talking about. Do not trust anything they say.

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Sandy-man there is a post in the top of this forum made by Frank Acampora (who is not with us anymore) to do the link and synk on Chrysler/Force 3, 4 and 5 cylinders. Read that post and check your engine, remember that on these engines you do not set the timing at idle. You set the timing at WOT...

1985 Force Carb Flange. What is this barbed fitting on the intake under the carb?

I think the later Force suppose to have these recirculating hose going from the top cylinder side just under the flywheel and to the "dog bone" cover plate. But I can be wrong. As this engine block construction is from the mid 60.es (West Bend brand in the beginning) the unburned fuel as a two...

    Picked up a 1990 Force 50HP yesterday.

metalchewy pull the carb again and check inlet needle. Just a little debris can make the inlet needle not to seal when bowl is full. Change the fuel pump diaphragm cause it is wear detail and if there is a small hole in it it will end up with fuel going direct into the crank case. Remember the...

What type of ignition does a 1985 Force 50HP use?

Yes, both engines in the pics has battery ignition system. Points and condensers under the flywheel and the ignition coils mounted at the block. Magneto system has everything under the flywheel. Coils, condensers and points.

    Small crack in lower unit

As Scott says pre heat before welding. Clean the area very well and I would drill a little hole at the end of the crack to end the crack. Otherwise it may carry on to crack even after welding it.

What type of ignition does a 1985 Force 50HP use?

Chrysler/Force 45, 50 and 55Hp have had different ignition systems through the years. In mid 70:es Chrysler had magnito, battery and CD systems at these engines. The early CD systems was battery driven systems, no self energnized from magnets in the flywheel. When Chrysler sold the OB business...

Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

If you can and will work on the engine I would go for OMC or Mercury engines from late 70.es and up until late 90.es. Newer engines from 2000 and up with fuel injection and more electronic stuff for the ignition and fuel system, then you need to have computer, special cables and software to...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Sandy in my opinion you do not need to balance the flywheel because of that little piece missing. It is just a couple of grams (I am in Sweden Europe) cause of that piece. The flywheels from factory was not super balance as it is not a racing engine and the highest RPM is about 5000. I would use...
