    1990 Force intermittent issue

Re jetted my 1990 Force 120 hp L Drive engine and it helped a bunch with power. Ever since I can remember I have had a running issue with this engine. It will run like a champ for about an hour (from first start up) then start running like crap. Starts missing and sometimes will only hit...

    Ethanol and the warm fuzzies!!

I installed a new fuel filter (in line style) at the beginning of the season and it ran without a hitch till labor day weekend. I filled up at a local Conoco and took off for the lake. During what was only 10 consecutive hours on the meter I changed out the filter 2 x's!! Each time I noticed a...

    1990 L Drive 120HP-.080 Jets?!?!

O.k., now I am officially confused! I would be led to understand that a larger jet (i.e. a .088 over a .086) would allow MORE fuel, correct? I just pulled the bowls on my carbs (1990 120HP Force L Drive) and found both the top and bottom jets to be at .080:eek:!?!? I confirmed this...

    125 for 120 L Drive swap??

I ran across a fresh 1989 125 HP L Drive engine and was wondering if it could be swapped with a 1990 120 HP L Drive? Looking at the spacer plate it looks like it could. Both seem to be a 13 spline coupler too. Any ideas/incite?

120HP Ldrive-Jetting for elevation and RPM issues

It has been awhile but I am still stuck with my L Drive. Call me insane, but I have grown a bit attached to it (yes I am twisted!!). It's just so darn easy to work on.These are my latest issues. The local Lake sits at 6050 ft. elevation. I have recieved conflicting info from several reliable...

    The awakening!!

This will be my last post in the "Force" section. Yoda was full of it-for Gods sake DONT use the "Force"!!!! I have come to 2 conclusions 1=Bayliner should be re named "Beachliner" cause they DON'T belong in the water!! 2=I wouldn't even use a force motor as an anchor!! They are an awful design...

    Water flow schematic??

I need for somebody with a good knowledge of the cooling system on a 1990 120 HP Force L Drive, to shed some light on the path the cooling water takes during engine cooling. I can't figure out what is going on with mine.

Ready to give up!!1990 120 HP Force L Drive

I am at a total loss at this point. I have completely re sealed the powerhead ( or ings/head gasket/ALL seals)and installed a brand new water impeller and all associated o rings and gaskets, but my cylinder head temps are still out of control (they reached about 195 when I shut er down). I put...

1990 Force 120HP Powerhead lower gasket??

I can not find a part number or source for a powerhead lower gasket for a 1990 Force L Drive 120HP. I can identify it in a picture of a complete powerhead gasket set but can't locate a single gasket. I think it is the very top middle gasket in this picture (the one just right of the head...

Catastrophic failure? Should I cut my losses???Please help!

Last weekend I posted a query and pictures about what would cause an impeller to fail on a 1990 120HP L Drive Force motor and loose water flow after only being 2 days old. The background on the time of failure was that the engine was running fine as I was skipping across the lake when I lost all...

    What causes this=impeller failure??

These are pictures of an impeller that was only 2 days old (1990 Force 120 HP L Drive model "B").I lost ALL water flow as I was running full throttle across the lake. The impeller was never ran in a dry state. The curled part would be the top most part of the impeller as it sits in the housing...

Cable to hydraulic direction control on 1990 L Drive????

I have a 1990 Force 120 HP L Drive and have come to the conclusion that someone was smoking crack when they designed the cable routing to the lower unit. Am I alone on this one???? I have had numerous problems with the cable (forward/reverse)as it seems to find it's resting spot in the tube, and...
